Anti Virus Programs Free

January 11th, 2009 · No Comments

A computer repair technician, John A. Stevens has plenty of constructive recommendations and comments regarding anti virus programs – free!

He offers advice for those who have little to spend on security, and then PC users who are able to invest something in their security are pointed in the right direction.

His article with the title “Anti Virus Programs Free” begins here – -

Introduction

Every computer needs a good anti virus software program. From my experience I can tell you flat out that most of my money is made from people who do not want to spend the money on a good anti-virus software program.

There are so many different companies, brands, styles, and prices to choose from when it comes to anti virus programs that it can often be discouraging and even frustrating simply trying to figure out where to start and which one to decide upon.

Your Options

  • AVG free antivirus
  • Avast free antivirus
  • Internet Security Suites
  • Multi-PC Licence
  • Norton
  • Trend Micro

There are two main free anti-virus clients out there. One is AVG and the other is Avast. While these are good programs you get what you pay for. Both of these programs are better then nothing but they will not properly protect your computer.

When deciding on an anti virus software program it is recommended that you get a program that not only takes care of viruses but also has spyware protection and firewall. These types of programs are called internet security suites. They are named that way because they are your all in one solution.

It’s easier to manage one piece of software from one company rather then 3 from three different companies. A more recent event that has benefited customers is most internet security suites can be installed on up to 3 computers instead of just one.

This really helps to save money for those who have more then one pc. Two of the best programs out there are Norton internet security suite and Trend Micro

Advantages

  • Virus Scanner
  • AntiAdware
  • AntiSpyware
  • AntiDialer
  • AntiPhishing
  • Extremely High Performance
  • High Detection Capacity
  • Virus Signature Updates
  • Virus Files Checks
  • Easy Installation

A few of the advantages that you receive here include: security package with virus scanner, AntiAdware, AntiSpyware, AntiDialer, and AntiPhishing, extremely high performance and detection capacity by using the latest standards, signature updates which make sure that the protection against attackers is always up to date, virus check of every file and archive access and easy installation on top of it all. You just have to install it and then you can leave it and forget about it.

Disadvantages

  • A Small Price To Pay
  • Heavier On Resources

On the downside having complete protection does come at a price. These programs do take up a large amount of system resources. If you have an older computer, and by that I mean close to 3 years old and older you may want to look at installing more memory into your computer. This can be done for around $100.00.

Anti virus software is a must have and whether you are looking for total system coverage or a solution for a specific problem, you can find whatever you need as long as you know where to look. Because every system is unique you will need to evaluate your options before being able to decide on any particular one.
